This assessment has been commissioned by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO). The research team has identified three case studies which will be studied, including (i)Poultry farming (Sasso chicken breed), (ii) Animal feeds production, and (iii) pig genetics(insemination).
The assessment aims at taking stock of agricultural innovation systems of the small livestock sub-sector in Rwanda and provide insights on factors that influence their capacity to enable, foster and promote inclusive and responsible innovations, identify critical gaps, needs, opportunities, and good practices. Data collection is expected to start by the end of March.
Agriculture is one of the key focus areas in which IPAR-Rwanda conducts research, analyses policies and produces evidence that informs decision-making for policy-makers and other actors in the sector.
