IPAR-Rwanda is currently implementing a project on “Evaluation of Irrigation Schemes in Rwanda” which is funded by GIZ and is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning(MINECOFIN).
The objective of this evaluation is to assess the performance of irrigation schemes managed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) towards the achievement of their strategic goals. One of the project’s specific objectives is to evaluate the operational status of irrigation schemes focusing on challenges, gaps and recommendations. The evaluation will also assess the impact of irrigation schemes on farmers’ welfare such as job creation, income and production.
The findings of this study are expected to provide facts and evidence on the performance of irrigation schemes managed by MINAGRI and a set of policy recommendations to improve irrigation schemes in the country.
