Rwanda is one of the poorest countries in the world, but it has made dramatic development progress in recent years. Rebuilding the country and setting it on to a path of sustainable development after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi has been the major priority for the Government, and in this it has been supported by significant
amounts of development assistance. The Government has put in place an agenda to ensure that the poor benefit from economic growth and that inequality narrows.
